Owner’s note
Was unaware until 9/03 because the humane society didn’t post her on their website. My dog has been missing for 4 months. My family & friends spent days looking for her. We posted and watched on their Facebook page, website, and the other local community page to see if she would appear. I do not have social media besides YouTube so, friends and family were checking on Facebook for me. We didn’t see or hear anything. On 09/04/2026, I received a screenshot of my dog being fostered. The post made many claims that weren’t true on the behalf of Columbia Gorge humane society. My dog hasn’t been adopted and the humane is overfilled to the point of being overfilled. I initially made a Facebook account and I wrote the business. I stated that I just discovered that she was there and we accidentally lost her when we let her outside to go to the bathroom. My son is autistic and my husband was trying to handle a meltdown with him. We didn’t discover she was gone until later but we looked for her for hours. Columbia Gorge humane society told me it’s been 4 months so, I didn’t care about my dog at all. We were at the end of season so in between grooms. The dental work she needs is expensive so we were saving. The manager wouldn’t hear of it. She made up her mind already. She lied about hours of operation stating she is there at 7am everyday. Public information states they don’t open until 10a. She said non emergency police wouldn’t do anything. They did take a report and I’m meeting with the animal on control officer on Tuesday, 9/08. The manager claimed it’s up to her if she releases the dog. According to city policy, it is up to the animal control officer. The manager lied, manipulated information, and degraded my character based on no information. I presented proof of past grooming, medication for her dental, and she’s 11 years old, small Maltese.; we take our time cutting her nails in order not to hurt her. The manager wouldn’t listen to anything. I got upset due to the lack of customer and empathy. This dog has been in my family since she was a puppy. This is my autistic son’s dog. The manager said she posted everywhere about my dog being lost. There’s nothing on social media or their website about lost dogs. The manager said we didn’t call. We did, but they hardly answer the phone. They are open 5 hours a day. I was working during those hours and tried on my lunch. They are closed when I would be off work at 5a. The manager named obscure websites that I wouldn’t have any idea to check. The police only faceboook including animal control. Again, I don’t have Facebook. I made an Facebook account on 9/03 to get a hold of someone to get my dog back. According to the manager, if you don’t find your pet in a few days, you dumped you pet. They constantly are making negative comments on Facebook regarding the animals they found. Everyone automatically doesn’t care and dumped their pets. That could be part of why no one is adopting. They have over 40 animals and foster more. The manager thinks no one is good for a pet.
Please don’t chase. Stay calm, offer a treat, and call the owner.
